The Ultimate Guide to Gynecological Cancer Symptoms and Treatments in the Philippines

The constant high cases of gynecological cancers have always been a worldwide concern for many, and the lack of awareness about these conditions is causing women to lose their lives.According to the Department of Health, cervical cancer is the 2nd leading cancer among women in the Philippines. This increased the need for cervical cancer treatment services to go up second after lung cancer treatment Philippines

Several cancers can form in the female reproductive organs, but ovarian cancer is the most common. This particular disease occurs when abnormal change or growth occurs in a woman’s cervical cells. The cervix is the long, narrow canal between the uterus and the vagina.

Two types of cells can be involved in forming cervical cancer, mainly the squamous and glandular cells. The former is found in the outer part of the organ, while the latter is located inside. Although, there are cases where both or none of the cells participate in the cancer development.

The symptoms of cervical cancer are mostly experienced when the disease has developed into a more advanced stage, as most early-onset cases display little to no signs at all. Examples of symptoms are unusual vaginal bleeding, spotting in between periods, foul and heavy discharge, back or pelvic pain, and pain and bleeding during or after sexual intercourse.

Reasons for accumulating such conditions could vary from each individual, but the most common causes are sexually transmitted diseases such as the human papillomavirus (HPV). In addition, taking oral contraceptives, early exposure to sexual activity, and a weak immune system are causes of the condition. Unsurprisingly, cervical cancer is also a disease linked to smoking, as the bad habit is known for its detrimental effects on the body.
